Plastic Collection Drive

"A clean environment is a human right like any other. It is therefore our responsibility to others to ensure that the world we pass on is as healthy, if not healthier, than we found it." – Dalai Lama

Committed to creating a Clean and Green School, Himalaya Public Senior Secondary School is making continuous efforts to sensitise the students, staff, parents, and the community at large about their role in maintaining a clean and healthy environment through various programmes.

We have undertaken several initiatives to generate awareness among school children and the community to environment-related issues of concern, through various activities organised by School. Environment awareness and consciousness is well reflected in our teaching-learning strategies.

As we know, plastic is a new generation material that is irreplaceable and should be used judiciously and then recycled. To continue with our endeavours, School announced a Mega Plastic Collection Drive in collaboration with ICPE ( Indian Centre for Plastic in the Environment) from 15th April to 15th May 2023. The ICPE, which was set up on the recommendation of a task force constituted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF), is a body registered under the Societies Act on January 27, 1999. It is a nodal agency recognised by the Government of India to handle all issues relating to plastics and the environment across the country.

To give this drive, a wide reaching impact, it must encompass the entire School and the community. To restrict plastic being sent to landfills and junkyards, We have invited the parents and students of the school to be on board with us for this noble cause of environment conservation and make a significant effort to making our School, the community, and our city a sustainable place to live in. Remember there is no Planet B.

"The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it."
Students actively and enthusiastically participated in the drive, to make this drive a runaway success.
