Millets Exhibition

India occupies an important place in an International market. In order to revive the glory of small millets, on the proposal of India, the United Nations has declared the year 2023 as International year of Millets. In an effort to sensitize school students to the value of millets and promote their consumption on a regular basis, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare organised an Exhibition on 18th March 2023, in the premises of IARI Campus, PUSA New Delhi. Our 33 Students from classes VII - VIII participated in the exhibition and gathered information about various forms of millets. The Prime Minister inaugurated and visited the Exhibition cum Buyer Seller Meet Pavilion. He also unveiled a Commemorative Stamp and Commemorative Coin. In the exhibition, several varieties of food stuff made from millets were put on display. Students learned the nutritional and medicinal importance of each millet which are rich in protein, antioxidants and amino acid which are good for health. The exhibition was a fun, enriching and learning experience of the students which motivated them to give their best. Students were enthusiastic to know about millets, their origin and usage.
