The school felicitated the Resource Persons DR. RAKSHIT TANDON as well as
delivered the Welcome Address and explained that due to the expeditious growth of
technology various opportunities are being offered but it has also produced new and
serious threats, known as Cyber Crime. In order to understand the various
concerns and challenges related to Cyber Crime and how to protect oneself
from becoming a victim, a session on Cyber Security by DR. Rakshit Tandon
(Cyber Complaint Redressal Cell, U.P. Police Agra) is organized.
Teachers from various reputed Delhi schools were also the part of this awareness
session.
DR. RAKSHIT TANDON commenced the session with an introduction and subsequently
explained the impact of technology on adults and children. He shared his
experiences and briefed the participants about the trend of crimes he had observed
and analyzed during the cases he had investigated. He also informed that this year
till now 21 lakh of cybercrime cases have been reported that is an alarming
situation in India.
He explained various terms such as Data Tampering, Spoofing, Phishing,
Hacking, UPI and VOIP. Through presentation and Case Studies, he discussed the
heinous crimes related to Cyberspace by which we noticed that even students from
primary till senior are also involved in criminal activities that are beyond our
imagination. This was a clear message that how students of this era are so
influenced and are building negative ideas to grow that eventually can put
them behind bars and can spoil their career.
He advised us to use Two Step Security, keep correct settings on the web as
well as applications and a safe usage of Debit and Credit Cards .He not only
guided us on how to be secure while being online but also talked about the penalty
and punishment one has to bear for committing Cyber Crimes under the Indian
Cyber Law.
It is a well-known fact that prevention is always better than cure. The session
created awareness (and alarm) for the audience for the need to exercise caution
while using technology. The digital world is changing at a very rapid speed, hence
the need to educate the masses about its safety and usage becomes pertinent. It
was an eye opener session.
